Weather Summary

A strong baroclinic zone resulted from the confluence of sub-tropical warm moist air and polar air and extends from Newfoundland to Iceland. Along this frontal zone several cyclonic systems emerge. A first frontal wave explosively intensifies on Wednesday, reaching Iceland Wednesday. The associasted WCB has its ascent and inflow just to the South and Southeast of Iceland. WCB outflow and upper-level PV erosion is located just over Iceland. Another cyclone forms near Newfoundland and reaches Iceland on Friday/Saturday, with strong WCB activity west of Ireland. At the begin of next week, tropical cyclone Karl will undergo extratropical transition and influences another newly formed cyclone further downstream. A very intense jet streak is expected to evolve at upper-levels.
